Annual Report Support Foundation St. Andrew’s Biblical Theological Institute 2018

Introduction

In 2018 we continued and improved the work, which has been done for quite some years now: support the work St. Andrew's Biblical Theological Institute is doing. Here you find the summary of our work.

Board and Board meetings

At the end of 2018 the following persons were members of the Board:

Mr. Wolfgang Lenz (Solingen, Germany) – chairman;

Mr. Jaap van der Sar (Wageningen, Netherlands) – secretary;

Mr. Fred Bogaards (Wageningen, Netherlands) – treasurer;

Mr. Rüdiger Noll (Berlin, Germany) - member.

Mr. Alexei Bodrov, rector of St. Andrew's Biblical Theological College, is advisor of the Board.

The members of the Board don't receive any compensation for their work; they are committed to the work, which they all do on a voluntary basis. In general costs are covered by themselves.

In 2018 the Board has not met as a full Board in person. We have had quite often informal communications among members as well as among members and the advisor of the Board. At one occasion we formally have held a Board meeting. Our constitution allows to have this in electronic form – which actually has happened.

The Board continues to consider the way it has worked as effective and efficient.

Support

In 2018 the main characteristic was 'business as usual' especially regarding the activities of St. Andrew's which are supported by this foundation. We are proud that we have been able to support the work of St. Andrew's for quite some years now.

The work of the Support Foundation, also regarding the spending of the money, dealt with the work outside the home country. A major step has been taken in this regard since this year we were able to establish an agreement with the Free University in Amsterdam, Netherlands. As a result of this, the rector of St. Andrew's Biblical Theological college will be appointed at the Faculty Beliefs and Practices of the Free University for two years.

The major field of interest for teaching and research will be the role of Orthodox Churches in society in a broad sense.

We would like to thank our donors as well as individuals, which have supported us in our work. It is an encouraging part of the support which could be generated for St. Andrew's Biblical Theological College.

We also would like to thank donors which supported our Foundation in the last year.
